Intimate Weddings at Hylands Estate

Written By Amy Brown

Its true that 2020 has forced us to change many things, including the way we celebrate (temporarily) and whilst this hasn’t been a welcome change, it has shown us how creative we can be when put under pressure!

Hylands House has welcomed thousands upon thousands of people through its doors and seen them celebrate in their own unique way, usually with hundreds of family & friends. And yes it’s true, the venue can accommodate up to 300 guests, but equally the house can offer a cosy yet elaborate setting for the most intimate of celebrations!

From Wednesday 2nd December 2020, wedding ceremonies & seated meals are allowed to take place within Tier 1 & 2 areas of the UK, this is expected to be the case until March 2021. At this stage we don’t know what capacity restrictions will look like but are hopeful that Government will allow Covid Secure Venues to operate within a percentage of their normal capacity until such time as all restrictions are eased.

Our innovative Wedding Offer allows you to book Hylands House for your intimate wedding using an hourly hire charge. Times are fully flexible and you’ll benefit from a complimentary hour ahead of your hire to use our brand new Wedding Suite for changing and getting ready!

You have the choice of one of two licensed rooms for your civil ceremony, the Drawing Room with its stunning chandelier and soft colour palette provides a romantic idyllic setting, and the lavish Banqueting Room which is set to impress your guests. You have exclusive use of the house to continue your celebrations with your guests and can even host a seated meal inside the newly refurbished Terrace Room overlooking the back lawn, or the extravagant Banqueting Room where you can dine like Royalty surrounded by silk lined walls and 24ct Gold gilded ceilings.

Whilst your guest list may be smaller than imagined, the experience doesn’t have to be any less magical. In fact there are many advantages to having a smaller guest list:

  • Lower catering/per-head costs can be used elsewhere in the budget
  • Spending more of the budget on your dream wedding venue
  • Creating a much more personal experience
  • More time to spend with loved ones on the day
  • Going all out with décor and finishing touches
  • Using bespoke stationery and favours
  • Selecting rare wines and luxurious menus
  • Booking unique entertainment

Hylands House is known for its opulence, its history and its charm. Having your guest list cut from 300 to less than 30 means you can make use of each room within the house enabling you to really impress your guests. Imagine taking your vows inside the Drawing Room, looking out over the East Terrace, your guests seated under the incredible chandelier. Drinks and canapés flowing in the Terrace Room followed by an exquisite meal seated inside the Banqueting Room. Each room a new and magical experience for your guests.

With lower guest numbers you have time to use more personal touches for your guest experience. Why not create bespoke table settings and favours for each guest, a personalised glass, or napkin holder, or gifts that remind them of family traditions.

Reimagine the standard round table set up and create wow factor with a banqueting style set up. Think about long table runners and fresh flowers which your budget may not have allowed for with larger guest numbers. The bonus of hosting your intimate wedding at Hylands House is that each room is so ornate you really can concentrate on the smaller things and allow the house to provide the perfect setting.
