Why we are collecting your data

Chelmsford City Council is a data controller. We only collect personal information about you when you enquire with us. This may include your contact details in order for us to respond to your enquiry, and your consent to be added to our marketing mailing list via a tick box. We will only collect the personal data from you that we need in order to do this.

Where stated on our website, we will share your data with third party partners, such as Essex Stays, who will get in contact with you directly about your enquiry. Once you submit your details, these will be shared with the third party partner as stated, and they will be the controller of your data going forward with your enquiry. To remove your data from their records, you will need to contact them directly.

We need to hold accurate and up to date information about you so that we can deliver appropriate services. If any of your details change, you need to tell us as soon as possible so that we can update your records.

We keep all records relating to our enquiries for 12 months. If customers have asked to join the mailing list, their records will be kept for as long as they have opted in. You have the option to opt-out at the end of every email newsletter you receive from Hylands Estate.

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you.  Any access requests are free of charge.

If the information we hold about you is inaccurate, you have a right to have this corrected and you have the right to request completion of incomplete data.

You have the right to ask us to erase your personal data in certain circumstances (‘right to be forgotten’).

You have the right to ask us to stop or restrict the processing of your personal data, in certain circumstances.  Where possible, we will seek to comply with your request, but we may need to hold or process information to comply with a legal requirement.
