Your Summer Wedding at Hylands Estate

Hylands Estate

Allow me to set the scene: The warm summer sun is shining and there’s a welcome light breeze in the air. Your family and friends are mingling outside on the patio with a fruity cocktail in hand, dressed in their finest, all set to enjoy a day of celebration. Uncle is playing lawn games with the children and your friends are laughing about times enjoyed together.

Today is your wedding day; and what better way to celebrate, than at a grand mansion house nestled in acres of rolling parkland in the middle of summer! (Ok sometimes it does rain in the summer but Hylands House provides so many amazing photo backdrops that it doesn’t really matter, but for the purposes of this blog, the sun is shining!).

Now, back to the sunshine… we’ve put together some great ideas to create that added wow factor for your summer wedding here at Hylands!

Summer Cocktails (or Mocktails!)

The benefit of hosting your wedding at a venue like Hylands Estate is that you can hire your own suppliers to help create a truly bespoke event. How about hiring cocktail makers to offer fruity favourites like Strawberry Daiquiri, Raspberry Mojito and Passionfruit Martini. Why not see if they can create a unique cocktail in your name to add a real personal touch!

We adored this adorable bicycle bar from the Jolly Jockey!

How about setting up a Gin bar or Prosecco station with fruit garnish, flower petal ice cubes and brightly coloured straws and umbrella’s for a full on summer vibe!

Garden Games

Keep your guests entertained with some simple garden games such as giant Jenga, ring toss, hop scotch, croquet or even cricket (towards the back of the lawn please!).

Summer Colour Scheme

Incorporate a range of vivid colours into your décor, bridesmaid dresses and/or florals. Nothing says summer like bright colours! The Grand Pavilion is your blank canvas, so go bold and add your summer styling to bring the outdoors in! The great thing about the Grand Pavilion is that whilst it may be 30’c outside, the air conditioning will be a welcome break inside!

Summer Florals

Following my point above, the simplest way to celebrate the summer is to use fresh seasonal flowers, all grown under the summers sun! Think about using giant heads of hydrangea, stunning dahlias in their glorious range of shapes and colours, English roses, sweet pea, larkspur and stock. Not only do fresh flowers look sensational but they smell delightful, adding to your perfectly curated summer theme.

Semi-Naked Wedding Cakes

Your guests will love tucking into a plate of light sponge cake topped with fresh fruits, the perfect alternative to a traditional heavily iced wedding cake. The joy of these cakes is that they can be dressed with fresh flowers to match your décor and fresh seasonal fruits such as strawberries, raspberries and red currants. You can relax knowing that the Grand Pavilion is perfectly cool enough to stop your buttercream from melting! #winning!

Colourful Confetti

Create a burst of summer colour with bright (bio-degradable) confetti or real petals out on the East Terrace! We guarantee this will be an image that makes you smile for years to follow, a true celebration of love!

Gardener’s at Hylands Estate take great care of the parkland and gardens, which provide yet more wholesome settings for your summer wedding photos! Be sure to head over to the Pleasure Gardens for a drop of English Country Garden charm and the One World Garden for more exotic floribunda!
